RCR Employees Help WAM Build Habitat House
Richard Childress Racing (RCR) communications department staff members Christine Brownlow and Laura Scott pitched in recently to help the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports (WAM) and a number of other organizations with a Habitat for Humanity home build in Kannapolis, N.C.
Other organizations involved with the home build included the Kannapolis Intimidators baseball team, the City of Kannapolis, Chicago White Sox Charities, U.S. Lawns and Sam Miller Carpet.
“I really enjoyed working on the Cabarrus county Habitat for Humanity house,” said Brownlow, who handles the communications for Jeff Burton and the No. 31 AT&T Racing team. “To know that you were physically a part of building someone’s dream home is very rewarding. The experience was awesome. I also learned new skills and made new friends. I’m definitely looking forward to the next project on the house.”
WAM helped with their first home build, in Concord, in April and immediately began working on the Kannapolis project.
“It was a very rewarding experience helping build a home with Habitat for Humanity and knowing that we were lending a hand to a family in the community,” said Scott, who handles the communications for Burton, Scott Wimmer and the No. 29 Holiday Inn Racing team. “It was hard work but gratifying to know that the racing community was helping a family in need so they can have their own home.”
Brownlow and Scott look forward to participating soon in another WAM project.
