Is it possible that without having another wireless company racing, every race fan will go out and get a Sprint/Nextel wireless plan? I don't believe that would happen. I have Verizon, I'm not likely to change.
Could it be that Sprint/Nextel is afraid of the competition? It can't be that, can it? Isn't competition what racing is all about? Don't NASCAR fans spend millions of dollars each year to watch those competitions? How much of each dollar that we, the fans, spend goes back to Sprint/Nextel? I bet they aren't losing any money on their investment.
Each race team has to pay NASCAR to race. Does Sprint/Nextel get a cut of that? How about the merchandise haulers? Do they pay to set up or pay commission on sales?
The only conclusion I can come to is that Sprint/Nextel is like the bully kid who wants to control everything and everyone.
I would wager almost everything I own that Jeff Burton or Ryan Newman would not be allowed to win the "Nextel Cup". NASCAR will do everything in their power to stop it from happening. (Phantom debris cautions, failed inspections, speeding penalties, etc.)
There is a limit to my patience. I am very close to taking my time and dollars somewhere else. This whole situation needs to go away. I think its time Sprint/Nextel grows up and lives in the real world. Every corporation has to deal with competition. Make your product better and more reasonably priced, and people will buy it. Don't waste your money trying to get rid of the other guy.
