Matt Kenseth became friends with Jeff Burton when both drove for Roush Racing. Kenseth saw in Burton someone a lot like himself, someone who could push him to be what he wanted to be.

AT&T running No. 31 Chevrolet without logos again
SCENEDAILY - 1:50PM ET THURSDAY AUGUST 30, 2007 - BY SCENEDAILY STAFF REPORT
AT&T will again field an unbranded car this weekend at California Speedway.
The No. 31 Richard Childress Racing car driven by Jeff Burton will carry a plain paint scheme of orange and black, AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel confirmed Thursday.
It will be the second week that the car has run without logos from its primary sponsor. AT&T, NASCAR and Sprint are in a contentious legal battle over the paint scheme of the car. Read More...

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Sometimes the right thing to do isn’t the smart thing to do, and vice versa.
The trick, I think, is not to get backed into a position to have to choose between the two too often.
That’s where I think NASCAR is right now, midday on Friday, on this whole thing with AT&T and its sponsorship of the No. 31 Chevrolets owned by Richard Childress and driven by Jeff Burton.
NASCAR, I think, has allowed itself to be cornered into a no-win public relations situation.
Burton’s No. 31 car is making laps at Bristol Motor Speedway with no sponsor logos on it, at all, and AT&T is managing to make that look like NASCAR’s fault. Read More...

AT&T-NASCAR dispute puts bare car under Burton at Bristol

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The fight between NASCAR and AT&T heated up Friday when the telecommunications giant refused to use a paint scheme or logos on Jeff Burton’s car at Bristol Motor Speedway.
AT&T is still sponsoring the car but had to remove its logos because the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned an injunction that had permitted their use. Read More...
