Burton would like to see shortened race

LONG POND — Berwick’s Jimmy Spencer, a former NASCAR driver who grew up near the track, was one of many drivers who have wished the length of the races at Pocono Raceway would not match the name of the village it calls home.
Veteran Jeff Burton is the latest to espouse the shorter race theory for the Pennsylvania raceway’s two annual Sprint Cup races.
Unlike some drivers, such as Jeff Gordon, who have recently bad-mouthed the speedway, Burton said he likes racing at Pocono. Read More...

#31 will hit the 'Road to Beijing' with new paint scheme
To drive excitement for Team USA at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, AT&T Inc. today announced a new paint scheme for Richard Childress Racing's (RCR) #31 AT&T Chevrolet, driven by Jeff Burton. Burton will circle the Pocono Raceway in a paint scheme featuring the AT&T USA five-ring logo and images of U.S. Olympic Team hopefuls gymnast Nastia Liukin and swimmer Michael Phelps. "We're excited to integrate our support for professional stock car racing and AT&T Team USA into this fresh and unique paint scheme," said Jamie Butcher, vice president of Sponsorships and Employee Communications. Just heard that Tony is saying he had too many drivers wanting to go this year and he had to turn some down. From what I can find, Jeff was one of those who will not be racing.

Burton big mover in Dover Cup race
Jeff Burton made the most improvement during the Cup Series Best Buy 400 at the Dover International Speedway.
Burton started the #31 AT& T Mobility Chevrolet 38th in the lineup and finished 8th. This gain of 30 places earned him the USG "Improving the Finish" award given to the driver who best improves their finish from the green flag to the checkered flag.
