Burton Enjoying Resurgence at RCR
By TONY FABRIZIO
The Tampa Tribune
Published: May 10, 2008
With 14 races left in the 2004 NASCAR season, a fading driver joined a once-dominant team seemingly in decline.
Jeff Burton hadn't won in almost three years, and Roush Racing was having trouble finding him a sponsor. Richard Childress Racing, which had ruled racing with Dale Earnhardt Sr., was struggling to put a driver in the top 10.
Nearly four years later, Burton, 40, has fully revived his career, and RCR, with three drivers in the top three of the Sprint Cup standings for tonight's Dodge Challenger 500 at Darlington, has reclaimed a place among the best teams. Read More...

Burton, team looking to improve on strong season
by REA WHITE, FOXSports.com

When Jeff Burton looks at his Richard Childress Racing team, he sees progress. He also sees room for improvement — something that should be chilling news to NASCAR Sprint Cup teams watching the quiet strength his team has shown this season.
Burton is on top of his game these days, starting the season in championship form. He's one the most consistent performers on the Cup circuit.
One wouldn't know it to be around Burton and his crew, though. They don't spout stats and driver ratings, don't point to their opening stretch that has a worst finish of 13th after 11 races. They don't predict championships or race wins. Burton gently sidesteps questions about whether he considers himself a favorite for the title this season. Yet, others must feel their confidence growing as the momentum continues. Read More...

Burton Heads Back Home

RICHMOND, Va. - To Jeff Burton, Richmond International Raceway may be as perfect a spot on the NASCAR schedule as they come.
The .75-mile track provides side-by-side racing and the kind of short track action drivers and fans seem to love.
And oh by the way, did we mention Richmond also happens to be in Burton's home state of Virginia?
"I just think for the teams, for the fans and for everybody that it takes to make this sport work, it’s the best all-around track," Burton said. "Richmond has good racing action. It’s big enough where it’s not wreck after wreck but small enough where it’s close side-by-side action since you have multiple grooves. To me, it’s a really hard race track to beat, competition-wise.” Read More...

Consistent Burton leading the Cup points heading to Richmond
By Mike Harris, AP Auto Racing Writer
Kyle Busch is establishing himself as the new star in NASCAR Sprint Cup and Carl Edwards is the winningest driver so far this season.
Where does that leave Jeff Burton heading into Saturday night's race at Richmond? Leading the points - right where he has been since finishing third at Martinsville on March 30.
It's not really that big of a surprise that the Richard Childress Racing driver has been one of the most consistent drivers in Cup this year, winning at Bristol and finishing no worse than 13th in the first nine races. Consistency helped Burton finished seventh and eighth in the past two seasons, with 20 top-10 finishes in 2006 and 18 in 2007. Read More...

Before racing come commitments
Thursday, May 01, 2008 - 12:07 AM
Editor's Note: NASCAR driver Jeff Burton, from South Boston, is providing a daily diary as he prepares for Saturday's race at Richmond International Raceway.
After a wild finish last weekend at Talladega Superspeedway and escaping with a 12th-place finish, I was excited to head back to North Carolina and set my sights on this weekend's Crown Royal 400 at Richmond International Raceway -- a racetrack I like to call home.
But before I can head north to my favorite track, I have to get through the typical Monday through Thursday scheduling items first. Read More...
